an airline prolly doesnt fly that route...so unfortunately there won't me any Non-Stop flights...

Philadelphia serves as a hub for US Airways -- I'd assume that non-stop flights from PDX to PHL would be on US. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, does not serve as a hub for any airline (it was formerly a US hub, but it is no longer). And those airlines that do not use a hub-and-spoke system (i.e. Southwest) likely do not see that there would be sufficient demand for nonstop service on that route.

Airlines base otheir non-stop flights on making as much revenue as possible. Im sure at some point there was a non-stop flight between those two cities, but the airlines probably were not filling the seats so they stopped doing it.
