Will the gay liberal flight attendant get off of being punished BECAUSE he's a liberal gay flight attendant

Will the gay liberal flight attendant get off of being punished BECAUSE he's a liberal gay flight attendant?
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2010/08/09/jetblue-attendant-goes-ballistic-on-flight-to-jfk/ Police said he dropped several f-bombs on a flight’s loud speaker, and then grabbed a beer, before deploying the evacuation slide to get away. On Monday night flight attendant Steven Slater was in police custody, charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and trespassing. CBS 2’s Hazel Sanchez spoke with a passenger on that bizarre JetBlue flight. Sporting a cut on his forehead from fallen overhead baggage, Slater walked out of Port Authority Police Headquarters handcuffed with a smirk on his face and absolutely nothing to say. But passenger Philip Catelinet said Slater had plenty to say over the plane’s public announcement system while he was on board JetBlue Flight 1052 on Monday afternoon. “He said, ‘to the passenger who called me a (expletive expletive, expletive) you. I’ve been in this business 28 years. And that’s it, I’m done,’” Catelinet said. Catelinet said Slater spouted the obscenities after his flight landed at JFK from Pittsburgh International Airport. Airport authorities said Slater snapped after he argued with a passenger attempting to get overhead baggage before the plane was parked at the gate. “You know, you don’t want to see a flight attendant lose their cool like that. I’m glad it happened on the ground and not anywhere in the air,” Catelinet said. Airport authorities said at the gate, Slater grabbed two beers, deployed the emergency slide, and then took off.

Yes, it's part of the gay liberal contract. Everyone that sign's up gets a Get Out of Jail Free card. If you join this week, you get two cards, a bouquet of roses, and a weekend in Aruba with a gay liberal flight attendant.
2 :
No he won't. you have any evidence that: 1) he is gay? 2) he is liberal?
3 :
Gay people are like everyone else. They must also obey the same laws everyone else does. Don't say you want to be treated like everyone else and expect to be different when it comes to punishment for committing crimes. This equal but separate is getting old.
4 :
No. show me your sources that he is a liberal.
5 :
he'll polish someone's knob for them and get off with a slap on the bum.

He's gay? He sounds like the ballsiest man I've ever heard of. Telling off some jerk passanger, and then grabbing a beer and taking the emergency exit? How can you say that's not the most awesome way to quit your job you ever heard? He's the common man's hero.

In Pythagorasland, he gets pretty much what he's getting now. His politcal leanings and sexual preference makes no difference. He'll pay a small fine for endangerment, etc, so that other flight attendants don't suddenly think this sort of behavior is ok. Then he probably makes up those fines with tv appearances, etc... Also, in Pythagorasland, after seeing the security tape, the passenger who hit him also gets busted for assault.

Defiantly. It's 2010 and minorities are above the law. Suck on that WASP! all your good for is taxing!

I take my hat off to him , what he did took a lot of courage plus losing his job, but why should they have to put up with all the obscenities from the passengers, i mean the guy had his head cut open by the guy , he sounded like a right arrogant pr..k. And he should not be punished the passenger should. And what makes you think he is Gay

Doesn't matter. Just be glad he probably won't be a flight attendant on any passenger jet in the near future. He gave himself a "pink slip".

it was a cool way to quit, BUT..if he was a conservative who snapped because of stupidity there would a federal manhunt right now. silly gay limps

Watch and see if Barney Frank doesn't come riding into town to the rescue.

From reading the article it sounds like he has a mental health problem so perhaps he should be assessed by a psychiatrist before anyone considers prosecuting him. I don't think him being gay is relevant to anything.

Of course. No one punishes liberals for bad behavior...they are lauded (see some of the comments). Now add GAY...well it's a no-brainer that absolutely nothing will happen to him except maybe a slap on his limp wrist. **note to liberals... How do we know he's gay? Just look at his picture. How do we know he's a liberal? He's gay.

I like the story he did not hurt any one but himself Reminds me of the story my grandmother told me about her father my great grandfather It seems he had bent a little too many elbows and was trying to crack over his car, it would not start so he took the crack handle and said ''O K I blind you You SOB'' and broke out both head lights

We will see what groups leap to his defense and then watch this bizarre scenario unfold. Perhaps this gentleman hated his job and his frustration finally couldn't be contained. Then again, maybe a nice big lawsuit will gain him the payoff he is looking for.

Probably, unless the passenger he was mad at is Muslim.

No. Mr Slater will be treated like any other criminal, because what he did was criminal. What the passenger did was criminal too, but it was no excuse for Mr. Slater to behave like that. The reason why people believe him to be gay is because of his myspace and facebook accounts and from accounts in media that he is in a relationship with/lives with a man and was in the middle of an intimate act when the police came to arrest him. Granted it appears that Mr. Slater had a lot on his "slate" at the time this occurred. His father died of ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease and his mother is dying of lung cancer, and he may be fighting his own health and mental health concerns (his FB page lists Alcoholics Anonymous). Mr. Slater should have considered his own emotional state before agreeing to this flight/job assignment. Whether you are a nurse, doctor, firefighter, paramedic, police officer, soldier, air travel employee, or teacher, you have to deal with an often belligerent public who can be nice, rude, combatant, contagious, threatening, etc., but that is part of the job, and for many of these positions, if you batter someone in this position, the penalty is higher. There is no heroism in what Mr. Slater did. It is pathetic. Even in Broward County, Florida where they have a court specifically for people who are suffering from mental illness, it does not excuse people for being mentally ill; they are still accountable for their crimes, but they have the added accountability of managing whatever mental illness they have.

I doubt his politics or sexual orientation will have anything to do with it. I doubt he'll "get off" because no one is refuting the facts of the case. Everyone agrees that it happened the way it did. The facts are pretty clear. It'll be pretty easy for the court to adjudicate this case. What will be interesting is whether the judge in the case will met out punishment as prescribed by the law, or if he/she will decide to "make a statement" and sentence the flight attendant to "time served" or something like that. Hopefully, the court will recognize that the flight attendant's actions put many lives in danger, and will act appropriately.
